THE WRECK OF THE "INDIAN CHIEF"
The full-rigged ship was wrecked on the Long Sand, in the North Sea off the coast of Kent with the
loss of seventeen of her 28 crew. Survivors were rescued by the lifeboat Bradford. Indian Chief was on a
voyage from Middlesbrough, County Durham to Yokohama, Japan.
