Title:Antique Autographic Register
Description:
Presented for your consideration
The machine was for making carbon copies of handwritten receipts. Autographic registers were invented in 1883 and had two separate rolls of papers interleaved with carbon paper. These rolls were often preprinted with form information. To operate the machine the user would write out a receipt and the machine produced a copy. When the crank was turned it moved the roll so that a new blank form came into view on the top. This allowed for the store to keep a copy of the receipt and give one to the buyer. There is a beautiful Victorian fleur dis lis pattern displayed throughout the case with a grape vine design around the outer edges of the top. This neat and hard to find autographic register would make a great addition to any cash register or
mercantile
memorabilia collection!
Top has some oxidation. Overall in good condition. Sold as found. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
