    Les Brown
was a popular American jazz musician who led the first-class big band
Les Brown and His Band of Renown
    for nearly seven decades.
In the late 1930s their sound was built on ensemble playing and they displayed a rich full tone that came off well (in person, over the air and on record.)
    Brown
insisted on a polished precise yet relaxed sound and audiences loved it.
in 1944 Brown recorded one of the most enduring hits of World War II; "Sentimental Journey" with Doris Day. It not only became one of the defining hits of the big-band era but also
    Brown
    's signature tune
    for the next 50 years.
