Description
Up for auction here is a wonderfully unique North Carolina estate sale find. This is a late-1800's handmade cash register drawer, likely used in a General Store. Heavy, rustic wood construction with six metal coin compartments and a larger one for bills. Some rusting to metal as shown but generally well-preserved or being well over a century old. 25 inches at widest point. Wood is well-constructed but has loosened slightly over the past 120+ years. 14 inches front to back. Attachment on rear where it was once apparently hung as a shelf. Very heavy, several pounds. A unique piece of old-time general store ephemera and a wonderful addition to any antique collection. Certainly not an item you'll come across again soon. Don't miss out on this one.
