    Description

    On this listing I have this Handmade WOOD & Inlaid Abalone - Chinese Zodiac - CHOPSTICKS, Rests & Box!
    This is such a unique set, and I have never seen one like it, and didn't find another online to compare it to... so please go easy on me if I am uneducated about it. You will receive a total of 32 pieces, which includes 19 chopsticks, 12 rests, and 1 box to store everything in. All pieces are made of solid wood. I do not know what kind of wood it is... I would like to guess cherry, as it is a darker color in general.
    The 19 chopsticks measure at 10 1/4", and have a inlaid design with the abalone on each side. I took a photo closer up to show the designs. They are smooth all the way up and down, and would fit and feel good in your hands.
    The 12 rests have the Chinese Zodiac on each one... the animals are the abalone inlaid. Also made of wood, and measure at 2 1/4" x 3/4". The wood is also very smooth.
    The wood box to store everything measures at 11 1/2" x 3" x 2". It also has an abalone inlaid design with horses, and trees. This box is wood, a darker brown color, and has been lacquered. The box shows the most surface wear and tear... most likely due to age, handling, storage, etc... You can see some of the marks in my photos. Also there is wear and tear to the edges of the box, and surface scratches. It is put together with hinges, which are working to open / close... but I also see where the hinges are moving a bit and may need some new glue to keep them secure. Also, I noticed on the design, that there are some slits in the abalone on the horses. I am not sure how this happened, because as you run your fingers over it, it is smooth. Which leads me to believe it was either made this way, or something happened to it underneath, but not along the surface.
    Overall this is simply a gorgeous, and rare treasure, I think. And if anyone has any info to share, PLEASE DO. I not only love to learn the history of things, but this helps me educate any possible buyers. This is not a mint perfect set, there are imperfections as mentioned, and as shown in my photos.
