Offered is the 2011 Fiji Silver Proof coin The Cabbage Rabbit Filigree. This is the first coin in the new Fiji lunar series and the first coin ever to incorporate the delicate
metal-work
of filigree (threads of silver twisted into curving motives) in its production. The filigree rabbit is suspended at only four points to the surrounding border of cabbage leaves.
Minted by the Finland Mint as part of their Year of the Rabbit collectors’ coin theme. Designed by artist Hannu Veijalainen. Stunning technical achievement on the part of the Mint and quite successful.
Nominated for Most Innovative Coinage award in the Coin of the Year Awards (COTY), 2013.
20.5 grams. .999 fine silver. 38.60 mm. Mintage limited to 6,000.
