    Description

    CHAAAA-CHING what an awesome find this is especially for anyone into antique National Cash Registers or Autographics. Let's start with getting the elephant out of the room right off the bat so we can get on too the good stuff.........part of this as you can clearly see has been painted. Not all of it thank goodness and I am sure if you so choose it will be easy enough strip the paint and bring refinish it back to it's original glory. That being said this NCR Autographic dates back to the early 1900's somewhere around 1908. It is a solid piece made up of oak and brass. The Autographic was designed to not only hold money but for the merchant to be able to maintain written records of sales. The top hinged lid opens to reveal mechanism for the paper tape, the bell and lots of storage. Pull the lever on the top of the machine and it smoothly activates the cash drawer to open. The cash drawer still has the original pieces to hold down the paper money. Pull the lever, the bell dings and the drawer opens what more could you ask for? On the top there is a brass ink well with great detail on the lid as well as the frame around the paper tape dispenser. The glass ink well is missing however. This comes with the key as shown to lock and unlock the top lid. I have to try the other keys that came with it to see if there is one to lock the cash drawer. Not sure at this time. Has original brass marque on top as well as the original name plate and serial plate. The really cool thing about this is the note that was left inside the piece showing the provenance. It states that this was purchase and used by the Washington Ice Company which began in 1890 and then was used by The Idea Shop. This will certainly be included with the Autographic as well as a roll of receipt paper. The piece measures 18 inches by 13 inches by 19 inches. Perfect to be put to use today as a cool cash drawer in your business, great for display in your home or nice addition to your NCR collection. So when Cash is King and you need an awesome place to store it, why not load it all up in this antique National Cash Register Autographic? Just something you don't run across everyday.
